3. App Description

The "Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana" application (hereinafter "the App") is an official mobile application of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana in Venice, developed to provide visitors with information, multimedia content, and tools for enjoying the Library's cultural heritage.

4. Data Collected and Purposes of Processing

4.1 Personal Data

The App does not collect, store, or process any identifiable personal data of users.
We do not request or collect:

  • Name and surname
  • Email or phone number
  • Address or personal details
  • Geolocation data
  • Personal photos or videos
  • Payment data

4.2 Anonymous Technical Data

To ensure the proper functioning of the App and improve its quality, we automatically collect anonymous and aggregated technical data through the Sentry diagnostic service, including:

  • Information about application crashes or malfunctions
  • Device model and operating system version
  • App version used
  • Anonymous statistics on feature usage

Purposes: This data is used exclusively for:

  • Identify and fix technical errors
  • Improve performance and user experience
  • Ensure application stability

Legal basis: Legitimate interest of the Data Controller to ensure the proper functioning of the service (Art. 6, par. 1, lett. f of the GDPR).
The data collected by Sentry is completely anonymous and does not allow user identification in any way.

4.3 Locally Stored Data

The App may save locally on the user's device:

  • Preferences and personalized settings
  • Downloaded content for offline use
  • History of visited sections

This data is stored exclusively on the user's device and is never transmitted to external servers or shared with third parties.

5. Required Permissions

The App may request the following device permissions:

  • Camera and motion sensors: to enable augmented reality features and 3D content visualization
  • Storage: to save multimedia content and App database on the device
  • Internet connection: to download updated content and send diagnostic data to Sentry

All permissions are used exclusively for the App features described and can be revoked at any time from the device settings.

6. Data Sharing with Third Parties

We do not share, sell, or transmit personal data to third parties.
The only external service used is:

  • Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.): for anonymous collection of technical and diagnostic data. For more information: sentry.io/privacy

Sentry is GDPR compliant and processes data in accordance with European data protection regulations.

7. Data Security

We adopt appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect processed data from unauthorized access, loss, destruction, or alteration. Since the App does not collect identifiable personal data, risks to user privacy are minimized.

8. Data Retention

  • Anonymous technical data (Sentry): retained for the time necessary for analysis and resolution of any technical issues, generally no longer than 90 days
  • Local data: retained on the device until the App is uninstalled or manually deleted by the user

9. Rights of Data Subjects

In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), users have the right to:

  • Access: obtain information about processed data
  • Rectification: correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure: request deletion of data
  • Restriction: restrict data processing
  • Objection: object to processing
  • Portability: receive data in a structured format
  • Complaint: lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority (www.garanteprivacy.it)

Note: Since the App does not collect identifiable personal data, the exercise of these rights is limited to the anonymous technical data processed by Sentry, which does not allow user identification.
